Redefine Your Business

Christina Lemmey started off as a Virtual Assistant in 2008, doing primarily administrative work for her clients. When they started asking for more writing help, she morphed her services into that of a ghostwriter.

Today Christina is focused on her podcast services and she has great advice for anyone who is starting their own business or looking to start a side gig to support their teaching paycheck.

Something that we didn't really get into on the episode is that mindset plays such an important role in anything we do in life. As the old Henry Ford saying goes, "If you think you can or can't, you're right." Positive thinking and taking action will always get you started on your path.

Another part of mindset is the belief that YOU are powerful enough to change your circumstances. Making changes to your career, lifestyle, etc. isn't easy but it's POSSIBLE if you know what serves you and what doesn't. If being in the classroom isn't serving you any longer, only YOU can make that change and find something different.

Business lessons learned from pivoting & redefining our lives

  • We really are in control of what we create
  • If you don’t like something, change it. It's not always easy but pursuing the idea is worthwhile
  • You don’t need to be miserable or mistreated
  • Choose strategies that work for you
  • Take a skills inventory. Figure out what you’re already good at
  • Find new things/tasks you might enjoy and try them

About the Author

I chose to proactively retire from the classroom teaching and share my gifts in a different context. I'm a damn good teacher and I'm tired of working within a frustrating system that won't let me do what I know is right. So I'm taking my business full time -- and I'm still educating, still making a difference in the world. And I want to help you do the same.
