Shawn Hill

We all know how important social media is for spreading the word about our business. But did you know there are different strategies and tactics for each platform? And did you know that your LinkedIn profile optimization helps attract organic search traffic?

LinkedIn is one platform that doesn't adhere to the other social media norms that want you to stay on their platforms as long as possible. You know those rabbit holes, where you get on to check one thing and hours later you've strayed considerably from your intended task? That's NOT what LinkedIn is about.

I'm pleased to welcome my guest, Shawn Hill, who is a LinkedIn expert and who helps other entrepreneurs optimize their profiles in order to attract their ideal clients. Shawn strongly believes that LinkedIn profile optimization is a strong way to create a good first impression with prospects.

But he's also the first to say not to wait for people to approach you; LinkedIn is about reaching out to others - one to one - to make connections and to have conversations. Shawn is also adamant that users must use a strategy when using LinkedIn otherwise they'll spend years spinning their wheels in frustration, wondering why they don't have any leads.

Sound Advice for Marketing on LinkedIn...

  • Organic search is more prevalent on LinkedIn and TikTok than Facebook.
  • Think of LinkedIn as a networking event; meet others but you don't need to stay too long.
  • Most people don't know how to market themselves, so expect a learning curve.
  • Know your audience and their pain points.
  • Build relationships with your audience by having 1:1 conversations.
  • Be of service to your audience.
  • Take away any guesswork about what you do with your LinkedIn profile optimization.
  • Always own your name's URL.

About the Author

I chose to proactively retire from the classroom teaching and share my gifts in a different context. I'm a damn good teacher and I'm tired of working within a frustrating system that won't let me do what I know is right. So I'm taking my business full time -- and I'm still educating, still making a difference in the world. And I want to help you do the same.
